When is the best time to have our newborn session?
For the best results, I recommend scheduling your newborn session when your baby is between 5 and 14 days old. During this period, newborns are typically sleepier and more likely to curl up into those adorable poses we love to capture. This window also allows us to photograph the precious tiny details and early expressions that make these sessions so special. However, I understand that every family situation is unique, and I am happy to accommodate older newborns as well.
What time is the best time to have our photos?
The best time of day for newborn photos is typically in the morning. I usually recommend starting between 9:00 - 9:30am. During this time, natural light is often soft and diffused, creating a gentle and flattering atmosphere for your baby’s first portraits. Additionally, newborns are generally more settled and content after their early morning feed, making it easier to capture those serene and adorable moments.
How far in advance do I need to book?
I recommend booking when you are in your second trimester. Too much later and I may not be able to accommodate your preferred date. I only take on a couple of newborn sessions per month which means we have options to move your session date depending on when baby arrives and how you are feeling after the birth.
How long will the session run and who can be involved?
My newborn sessions typically last between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the needs of your family. These sessions are entirely baby-led, allowing for pauses as needed for feeding, nappy changes, or a moment to reset. To ensure a relaxed and intimate atmosphere that fosters family connection, I recommend that only immediate family members be involved in the session.
Is the client wardrobe included?
Yes, Your paid session fee includes access to the client wardrobe for mamas. I have many dresses that suit all sizes which are perfect for maternity and postpartum. I can help style your session for you and I will provide you with a style guide to nail it!
Do I have to order prints through you?
Not at all! However, I do recommend using a professional printing lab. I've spent a lot of time curating your gallery to ensure the colors are true to my style of editing. Printing at places like Kmart or Big W can result in a loss of color depth and saturation, compromising the quality of your photos.
When will I see my full gallery?
My turnaround time is usually 2 weeks. I will always let you know if it will be any longer. You will receive your gallery in a secure online gallery where you can choose your favourites or upgrade to the full gallery.
